Laura Copeland Tate
Born and raised in Mississippi, Laura Copeland Tate returned home, after 30 years, to the place she loves the most. Growing up in Natchez, Laura attended ACCS from Kindergarten to 12th grade, continuing her education at Copiah Lincoln in Wesson then graduating from Mississippi State University in Horticulture.
After graduation, she and her husband Chris followed his family business all over the south – Tennessee, Kentucky, Texas and Madison, Mississippi. In early 2007, the Tate family moved to Richmond Hill, Georgia, for Chris’ job with Mitsubishi Hitachi. It was here Laura began her real estate career!
Beginning this new facet of her life, Laura started in real estate as a Buyers Agent for Exclusive Buyer’s Realty in Savannah Georgia. After a few years and wanting to explore other avenues in real estate, Laura joined Keller Williams Coastal Area Partners in Savannah. Her first few months there, she had the highest sales increase in the company for the first quarter. As a Keller Williams associate, Laura also obtained her Brokers license in order to add property management to her list of specialties. After five years with Keller Williams, Laura opened her own brokerage, Tate & Company real estate – a boutique agency servicing the Savannah area and the surrounding counties. Laura was fortunate to bring on a client, turned neighbor, Realtor and friend, Emily Bezner, and another baseball mom and friend, Stacey Dickey, to complete her Georgia team.
Laura is a REALTOR and is a member of the National Association of Realtors, Georgia Association of Realtors, Savannah Area Realtors, a recipient of the Savannah Area Realtors Distinguished Sales Society, member of the SMLC MLS and Technology Committee, Adopt-a-Family Committee, Buddy Walk committee, Awards Workgroup committee and the Community Services committee. In the Miss-Lou area, she is Incoming President of the Natchez Board of Realtors and Broker/Owner of Tate & Company real estate. Laura holds designations with the National Association of Residential Property Managers and as a Military Residential Specialist.
After a decade living in Coastal Georgia, Laura and her family have returned to her beloved Natchez. It is here where she was first exposed to real estate life as both parents were in the business and purchased the Century 21 franchise in 1997. While continuing her brokerage in Georgia remotely, Laura has branched out Tate & Company real estate into Natchez absorbing her parents real estate business. Alongside with her, her mother and associate broker, Charlotte Copeland. Together, they have over 50 years of real estate practice.
In addition to her Real Estate designations, she is also a member of the Natchez Chamber of Commerce, The Rotary Club of Natchez, Founding member of Living History Natchez, Natchez Historical Society Board, Downtown Natchez Association, Natchez Community Alliance, Krewe of Phoenix and Natchez Adams Humane Society Supporter.
Laura is married to Chris Tate, mother to two boys, Coleman and Connor – both graduates of Mississippi State University, Gracie the Cocker Spaniel, Cat-therine, Finn Finn - her foster-fail cats and little Tootie the stray.

Charlotte Copeland
Charlotte was born and raised in Carthage, Mississippi. Carthage is capital of Leak County which is the square county in the middle of the state of Mississippi. After graduating from Edinburg High School, she attended East Central Community College and there met her future husband, Marlon Copeland. After both completing their degrees, they were married and Marlon continued his education at Mississippi State University. Living in Jackson, Charlotte went to work as secretary for Turner Architects.
Marlon went on to obtaining his MBA while employed with Mississippi Power and Light, now known as Entergy. Transferring briefly to Brookhaven, Marlon and Charlotte were then relocated to beautiful Natchez.
As a stay at home mom in Natchez, Charlotte reared her 3 children, Philip, Laura and Andy. She saw all of Natchez - joining the Pilgrimage Garden Club and even enrolled in their Guide School and became a Step-on Guide for Natchez Pilgrimage Tours. With the vast knowledge she had gained from being a tour guide, the staff at Natchez Pilgrimage Tours/Pilgrimage Garden Club presented her with a job offer at headquarters. As Logistics Coordinator, she assisted Hattie Stacy by scheduling tour buses from all over the United States to see our beautiful town. Organizing home tours and assigning guides for each of the buses at the time Natchez had 1000 to 1500 tourist a day visiting our great city. In addition, she served as an ambassador for NPT/PGC at conventions throughout the country securing additional tour companies to visit.
In the late 80’s, Charlotte made a huge career change. Having served in the hospitality business for more than a decade, Bob Gavin with Century 21 approached her about real estate. Shortly thereafter, she became the top agent of the company and held that title for several years - for the Natchez area and the state of Mississippi – making Century 21 Bob Gavin and Associates one of the top performers in the company.
Once Gavin decided to retire from real estate, Charlotte and Marlon purchased the Century 21 franchise, thus becoming Century 21 River Cities Realty. In 2022, the franchise was returned and the name was changed to Tate & Company real estate, a satellite office of Tate & Company in Savannah Georgia, where her daughter started her real estate career.
In the late fall of 1992, Charlotte and Marlon purchased Sweet Auburn in Washington, Mississippi. For well over five years, they restored the home back to its glory. In addition to replacing the front portico that had been removed in the 1970’s, they constructed the third floor Widow’s Walk that was part of the home's original structure. For all of their efforts, they were awarded The George and Ethel Kelly Restoration Award in 2010 by the Historic Natchez Foundation - a great honor for all their work!
Throughout her career, Charlotte has visited, toured or sold several of Natchez’s significant homes. It is one of the most unique places in the country.
Charlotte Copeland knows Natchez and still loves everything about it!
